H(two)O

Particles bonded together,

A thousand drops trickling down to the metal sink

A colorless glow, disappearing into the drain,

Moving on to whatever is next-

Pipes, rivers, rain…

I stand,

Dumbfounded at how it never stops,

It is never still

Yet is appears misleadingly calm and composed,

Its sound on the nearby river soothes, transposes us to a place beyond

Until the storm breaks and the waves take everything over

In unexpected rage

At one end positive and the other negative,

I remember that

The most essential element for life is

A polar molecule

My sense of purpose kicks back in,

And as my mind comes back to this kitchen sink and the running faucet,

I realize that sometimes,

Opposites are at their best when they’re stuck together.
