when he doesn’t have to say a word to love me right

my heart is heavy right now but somehow

he walks into the room and the weight starts to lift

the sorrow turns to a dim

sadness drains out of my spine

secret tears escape from my eyes

at night he holds my pieces together in his arms

and that is how he discovers the wet spots on my face

he wipes them clean as he stares straight into the core of who I am

without fear or blame

and we lay engulfed

in the most healing, peaceful silence

I have ever heard.
