Times Like These

I peeked at you from the other side of the bed,

My other eye buried in your pillow

I didn’t have much to say

Words are so superfluous in times like these

So I gave you a look that I hope said “hey, I like you”

And caressed and kissed you until we were both taken over by sleep

When morning came, we both said thanks

But what I meant to tell you, and which I still haven’t said,

Was that I wanted to feel you next to me again.
